The Cuba-Petroleum Union reports that in the early morning hours of October 6, during the Yumurí 201 Well repair maneuver, an oil spill occurred because as a result of the increase in pressure, the valve gasket installed in the upper part of the well which caused the spill of gas with water and oil to the surface.
At around 12:30 hours the well was controlled and an earth barrier was built to prevent the discharge from reaching the sea.
At this time, CUPET has all the necessary resources to immediately undertake the cleanup and restoration of the impacted area, which reaches about 60 square meters.
With the well already controlled, a change of equipment will be made to continue with the repair of the well and put it on production.
